Campaign Kickoffs

(August 25, 2010) -- The Kickoffs for the 2010 Heart of Alabama Combined Federal Campaign have been set for Tuesday, September  14th for the West Campaign, Thursday, September 16th for the East Campaign and Wednesday, September 22nd for the Northwest Campaign. We have directions below.

West Campaign Kickoff

Tuesday, September  14th
10:00 am at the Maxwell AFB Officers' Club.

Thursday, September 16th
10:00 am at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System, Tuskegee, AL, Auditorium, Building 90.

Northwest Campaign Kickoff

Wednesday, September 22nd
10:00 am, at the VA Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, AL, Auditorium, Building 4.  The format for this kickoff will be different than in the past.  Following a short formal program, federal employees will have an opportunity to visit with charitable agencies during a 4-hour “window” as their work schedules permit.

West Campaign Kickoff

Tuesday, September 14, 2010 10:00 am
Maxwell AFB Officers Club
(Use the Bell Street gate only)

Due to the current security situation, please be sure to have a photo ID, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance

- I-85 South to Bell Street Gate
-- Take I-85 South to Montgomery. As I-85 passes through Montgomery, look for signs for I-65 N (Birmingham).
-- Take I-65 N. Immediately look for the Herron Street exit (Exit 172)
-- Take Herron Street exit and continue straight ahead to the third red light ("T" intersection). Turn left to Bell St.
-- Go straight ahead on Bell Street through four red lights.
-- After the fourth light, bear right at the light with an arrow pointing to the right. This is the entrance to the base.

--- Advise the guard that you are attending a function at the Officers’ Club

--- The guard will check your name against the list provided to them. Your vehicle will be checked but you will not have to sign in for a Visitor’s Pass

-- When you enter the base, you are on Maxwell Blvd.
-- Continue on Maxwell Blvd and travel approximately ½ mile to the intersection of Poplar Street. Bear right to Poplar Street (you will see a jet aircraft on display to your left, and a little further down you will see Chapel # 1 on your left).
-- Continue on Poplar Street to the intersection of West Drive. Bear right to West Drive. Continue approximately ½ mile on West Drive until you reach the Officers’ Club.

- Travelling South on I-65 to Montgomery
-- Take I-65 South to Montgomery
-- Take the Clay Street Exit in Montgomery
-- Go through the stop light and take the next left to Herron Street (You will now cross over I-65)
-- Continue across I-65 and turn left at the next stop light.
-- Continue straight ahead for two stop lights. You will arrive at a "T" intersection. Turn left to Bell St.
-- Go straight ahead on Bell Street through four red lights.
-- After the fourth light, bear right at the light with an arrow pointing to the right. This is the entrance to the base.

East Campaign Kickoff

Thursday, September 16, 2010
Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHCS)
Tuskegee East Campus, Theater, Bldg 90, First Floor

-- Take I-85 North (or I-85 South) to Exit 38. Turn right to Highway 81 (if travelling I-85 North); turn left to Highway 81 (if travelling I-85 South).
-- Continue straight on Hwy 81 several miles; look for the Magnolia Haven Nursing Home on the right.
-- At the nursing home, turn right. Follow the road as it curves several times. Look for a sign on the right that says "VETERAN’S HOSPITAL". This is Hospital Road. Turn right to Hospital Road.
-- Continue on Hospital Road about one mile (winding road). This road leads directly to the entrance of the hospital’s campus.
-- Bear left at the fork after entering the campus.
-- Go straight ahead about 200 feet. Bldg 90 is on your left. Turn left into the parking lot.
--
The auditorium is in Bldg 90, first floor, straight ahead after entering the building.
--
You may also Park in Lot A adjacent to Bldg 1 and then walk to Bldg 90.

Northwest Campaign Kickoff

Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center (TVAMC), Auditorium 3701 Loop Road
Tuscaloosa, AL 35404

- Traveling US 82 to Tuscaloosa
-- Continue on US-82/AL-6/ McFarland Blvd East for approx. 3.5 miles to the intersection of 15
th Street East.
-- Turn right onto 15th Street East and travel approx. 2.5 miles
-- Bear right at the intersection of Loop Road -- Take an immediate left into TVAMC
-- Park in Red Lot #2 on the right and enter Bldg. 1 (Administration Building) -- After entering Bldg. 1, go straight ahead to the "T" intersection.
-- Turn left at the "T" intersection and proceed straight ahead to the Auditorium.

- Traveling I-20/I-59 to Tuscaloosa
-- Take Exit #79/Cottondale/Coaling onto University Blvd and travel 5 miles to the intersection of 15th Street East
-- Bear left onto 15th Street East and travel .44 miles to the intersection of Loop Road
-- Bear left to Loop Road; take an immediate left into TVAMC -- Park in Red Lot #2 on the right and enter Bldg. 1 (Administration Building)
-- After entering Bldg. 1, go straight ahead to the "T" intersection.
-- Turn left at the "T" intersection and proceed straight ahead to the Auditorium.
