Kudos
Let us know some of the good things
you are doing (i.e., special events, FUNdraisers, etc). We want to
share your creative events and great ideas with the rest of the
campaign. Be sure to send a photo, a Powerpoint or pdf file that we can
display. Send to
Lew@doingwhatmatters.org.
Let us hear from you. We have a couple of neat things to mention this
week, see below.
I was at the Base
Exchange (BX) on Maxwell AFB a few days ago and happened upon
several Med Group key workers conducting a FUNdraiser; selling
scented candles that were going like hot cakes…proceeds to the CFC!
Someone used their camera phone and captured a photo of the key
workers and me (see attached flyer). The photo came out a bit
fuzzy, but more importantly I want to share another one of the
wonderful efforts we typically see from the Med Group. It was a
great opportunity for me to interact with our hard charging Med
Group volunteers…thanks…way to go!!
Project officer,
Risa Entrekin, implemented another creative theme for this
year’s campaign at the USDC. She’s calling the USDC the
“Courthouse of Giving” (COG); and they’re making an impact,
individual by individual, like cogs in a wheel…thanks Risa!!
Kudos to the Tuscaloosa Social
Security Administration (SSA)
We had a great time yesterday
morning (Oct 8th) at SSA’s kickoff with food, door prizes,
showing of the campaign video, guest speaker…the works!!. I want to
thank District Manager, Jose Cotera and his project officer Mildred
Manson, for putting together a first-class event. THANKS for inviting
me to be a part of it.
Kudos to the US Attorney’s Office (USAO)
The USAO has implemented an email process whereby each week a
CFC-participating agency is highlighted so that employees get firsthand
information about how CFC agencies are impacting lives. Project officer
De Dee Calhoun says this serves three purposes: It’s a weekly reminder
that the campaign is ongoing, encourages those who have not yet given to
give, and recognizes the fact that charitable agencies deliver vital
services. She says, “it’s a simple
concept but it seems to work!”
Kudos to corporate Maxwell-Gunter (M-G)
organizations
M-G orgs launched like a rocket this year
with a corporate 94% goal completion rate at Week 4; need $31K to reach
goal.
Carolyn Montgomery, the Maxwell Elementary School’s project officer, has
a “sweet” way to prime her donors and get ‘em in the mood to give.
Carolyn has been the school’s project officer since Campaign 2000. Since
then, she’s led a campaign that each year exceeded the prior year’s
giving; and the school set a new record for nine of the past 10 years
under her leadership. On another note, we’re looking forward to a Pasta
Cook-off, Oktoberfest and a Bake Off, all are upcoming events at one of
our organizations; and a Fun Run at another.
Have you wondered “what’s a good way to break the ice when I ask folks to give at my small
group sessions?” Well, Terri Amatuzzi and the Barnes Center
Team came up with a neat idea. They asked their folks to “Be a Star” and
gave each a piece of Starburst candy with a note encouraging them to
help us “Burst Our Goal!” What an effective and fun way to ask folks to
give! One of our organizations is planning three FUNdraising events: a
Pasta Cookoff, Oktoberfest and a Bake Off; and another is planning a
rather sizeable Fun Run. If you haven’t started your campaign yet,
consider doing your own internal kickoff. Consider doing a mid-campaign
remotivate if your campaign is rolling along and you want to re-energize
it at the midway point…have a theme, have food and have fun.

US Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Statistics Service
(Aug. 27, 2008) -- Here’s
a wonderful idea from Stephanie Jackson, project officer for US Department
of Agriculture, National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA NASS). It’s
an invitation-by-PowerPoint to the USDA NASS kickoff. Stephanie said it’s
Ok for others to use this as a template and adapt it for your own kickoff
if you like. If you need to know how to get to the slides so that you can
tailor them to your organization, call Brad or me and we’ll walk you thru
the steps; 334.264.7318 x 25 or 29, respectively. Way to go, Stephanie!!
If you’re doing something unique or
creative, please let us know so that we can share it.
