Heart of Alabama Combined Federal Campaign (HOA CFC)

SUBJECT:

Application to Participate in the 2012 Heart of Alabama CFC

  1. Campaign 2012 Application Window (Jan 30 through Feb 29):  Submit applications for the Heart of Alabama Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) during this window. The 2012 campaign will run during the Fall of 2012; starting date to be announced.

  2. Application Form: Federations like the United Way and Community Health Charities of Alabama must use the Local Federation application and related forms. Independent organizations and agencies that are members of a federation must use the Local Independent & Federation Member application. Applications received incomplete or after the deadline will be denied.

  3. Assembling your application: Please put your application together in the sequence outlined in the application form. Please be sure to download the appropriate application form and its associated separators. Please put your package together using the separators.

  4. Instructions: Please read the instructions that precede the application form itself. The instructions have important information that you should know about. The instructions are comprehensive and are prepared using a step-by-step format. Most questions you have will be answered there.

  5. Putting together the package: We recommend you prepare your application using a step-by-step process and provide complete and comprehensive information. NOTE:  As a courtesy, applications received in the CFC Office by Wednesday, February 15 will be prescreened by the CFC Office. If an error is found, you will have an opportunity to correct it before the application window closes on Feb 29th.  Applications that arrive after February 15 will be prescreened only as time permits.

  6. Submitting your application to the CFC Office: Mail or hand carry applications, with original signature, to the address below no later than 5:00 PM, Wednesday, February 29.  Please do not email or fax. We must have an original signature on the application form

  1. Sampling: Once your application is received, the CFC Office may request additional information from selected agencies and federations. This is called “sampling.” "Sampling" is an extra step that must be done. Here is one example why we must “sample”: Agencies with revenue greater than $100,000 but less than $250,000, no longer must submit an audit in their package. An audit must still be done by agencies in this revenue range, but it does not have to be submitted with the application. Consequently, each year, the CFC Office “samples” some of the agencies in this situation to verify that the correct audit is, in fact, being done. We will let you know if you are selected.

  2. Eligibility Decisions: The CFC's board of directors, called the Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC), meets in April 2011 to consider the recommendations of the Application Review Committee. You will then be notified as follows:

    1. Approved Federations and Agencies: Will be notified by email.

    2. Disapproved Federations and Agencies: Will be notified by "Certified US Mail, Receipt Required." A denied federation/agency will also receive instructions in its letter about the CFC's appeals process.

  3. If you have questions, please feel free to contact CFC management:
