using a step-by-step format. Most questions you have will
be answered there.
-
Putting together the
package: We recommend you go step-by-step and
provide complete and comprehensive information.
NOTE: The
Application Review Committee (ARC) meets on March 17. As
a courtesy, applications received in the CFC Office between
February 15 and March 1 will be prescreened by the CFC
Office. If an error is found, you will have an
opportunity to correct it before the application meets the
Review Committee for its official screening. Applications
that arrive on or after March 2 will be prescreened only as
time permits. Please see IMPORTANT NOTE below for further
explanation.
-

Sampling: Once
your application is received, the CFC Office may request
additional information from selected agencies and
federations. This is called “sampling.” "Sampling" is an
extra step that must be done. Here is one example why we
must “sample”: Agencies with revenue greater than $100,000
but less than $250,000, no longer must submit an audit in
their package. An audit must still be done by agencies
in this revenue range, but it does not have to be
submitted with the application.
Consequently, each year, the CFC Office may “sample” some of
the agencies in this situation to verify that the correct
audit is, in fact, being done. We will let you know if you
are selected.
-
Eligibility Decisions: The CFC's
board of directors, called the Local Federal Coordinating
Committee (LFCC), meets in April 2010 to consider the
recommendations of the Application Review Committee. The
LFCC's decisions will then be sent as follows:
-
Approved
Federations and Agencies: Will be notified by
email.
-
Disapproved Federations and Agencies: Will be
notified by "Certified US Mail, Receipt Required." A
denied federation/agency will also receive instructions
in its letter about the CFC's appeals process.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Our 2010 application
“window” starts Monday, February 15 through Monday, March 8.
The Application Review Committee meets a week after the closeout
on March 16 to officially screen your application. This is a
short timeline.
PRESCREEN:
As a courtesy, the CFC Office will prescreen your application if
we receive it by Monday, March 1. Thus, we strongly recommend
you begin putting your application together now because of the
short timeline this year between the closeout on March 8 and the
Application Review Committee meeting on March 17. By working on
your application now, you will be able to mail or hand carry it
to arrive on or near the first day of the application “window,”
February 15, 2010. Again, applications received between
February 15 and March 1 will be prescreened by the CFC Office.
You will have an opportunity to make corrections, if needed. We
will notify you by email if there is an error.
NO PRESCREEN:
However, applications received between March 2 and the March 8
closeout will not receive the courtesy prescreening unless time
permits. Thus, it is possible that your application will be
presented to the Application Review Committee “as is.” If
there is a problem that disqualifies your agency, it will not be
caught before the application meets the Committee and you will
not have an opportunity to correct it. Our
short time frame this year necessitates this, so we are making
the application package available early so that you can get a
head start.
